A deeper look at how it works.

Everything below lives on the landing page too: here it is in one place, without the pitch up top. Take your time.

A Glimpse · What the Agent Sounds Like

This is the conversation your teen builds.

Here's how the agent weaves the essential of the week into an everyday afterschool check-in, without sounding like a textbook.

Week 1 · Meet

The agent gets to know your teen

Simple daily check-ins. How was school? What's on tonight? The agent learns their schedule, their triggers, their interests, and what "a bad day" actually means to them.

Asks · Notices · Remembers
Week 2 · Patterns

It starts spotting the patterns

Tired on Mondays. Maths anxiety on Thursdays. Focus dips after lunch. The agent quietly connects the dots across conversations and starts planning around them, not against them.

Patterns · Predicts · Prepares
Week 3 · Personalise

The essentials become theirs

Stillness becomes a two-minute reset before maths revision. Body-as-temple becomes a movement break that fits their sport. The curriculum stops being generic: it's tailored to their world, one conversation at a time.

Tailors · Adapts · Individualises
Week 4+ · Autopilot

The agent runs the daily rhythm

Morning Minute speaks their day into focus. After-school check-in plans the evening. The eight essentials unfold week by week, each one delivered the way this teen actually learns.

Delivers · Grows · Stays local

Every conversation feeds the next. Nothing is sent to the cloud: the learning lives on your teen's device, with them, for as long as they keep it.

Part 3 · How It Works

On-demand training. Weekly live Q&A.

Your teen works through the training modules at their own pace: any day, any time. Then every Tuesday at 5:00 PM, join the live Q&A session for help, feedback, and community.

Part 4 · The Modules

What we build, module by module.

Each module pairs a build layer with a new essential. Work through them at your own pace. By the final module, the agent teaches all eight (with personalised activities for each), and the three daily rituals run on autopilot.

Module 1
Foundations + Essential 1: Silence & Stillness
Install Hermes on a home computer. Learn what a local-first agent is and why data stays on your device. Set up the Afterschool Chat. The agent learns who your teen is and designs their first personalised Silence & Stillness activity.

Module 2
Planning + Essentials 2 & 3: Body & Wisdom
Build the evening planning ritual. The agent now designs Body-as-Temple and Scripture & Wisdom activities tailored to your teen. Plans save locally. The agent connects each essential to the plan for the week.

Module 3
Morning Minute + Essentials 4 & 5: Nature & Digital Defence
Configure text-to-speech. The agent generates a one-minute audio briefing overnight, weaving in the essential of the week. Your teen wakes up, presses play, and starts the day with intention. Nature Connection and Digital Self-Defence activities go live.

Module 4
Extend + Essentials 6, 7 & 8: Life Skills, Community, Character
The final three essentials are configured. The agent now cycles through all eight, adapting activities as your teen grows. We extend the agent for homework help and research. Your teen learns to write their own agent skills.

Your Host · Safe & Vetted

Every live session is run by a screened instructor.

The Afterschool Agent programme is hosted by a safeguarding-cleared facilitator. Before any teen logs on, the host holds the following verified credentials:

Credential 1

Working with Children Check

State-issued clearance confirming the host is approved to work with minors: the baseline requirement for any programme involving young people.

Credential 2

NDIS Worker Screening

National Disability Insurance Scheme clearance, verifying the host meets the strict conduct and safety standards required to support vulnerable participants.

Credential 3

First Aid & CPR

Current accredited training in emergency first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, because a responsible host is prepared for the physical as well as the digital.

Credential 4

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Accredited training in recognising and responding to mental health challenges in young people: knowing the signs, how to listen, and when to escalate to professional support.

Four checks. One promise: your teen learns in a space that is supervised, safe, and accountable.

Before You Enrol · The Tech Requirements

What you'll need to set this up.

This is a self-paced build, not a magic install. To get the most out of the Afterschool Agent programme, you'll need these things in place first. None of them are expensive, but they are real.

Requirement 1

Your Own Laptop

A personal laptop or desktop running Windows, macOS, or Linux, one the teen has full admin access to. Not a school laptop. School-issued machines typically block installations, sandbox new software, and reset on logout, all of which break the agent.

Minimum spec: 8 GB RAM, 2 GB free SSD storage, modern CPU (any laptop made after 2018).

Requirement 2

OpenRouter.ai Account Credit · $20

A one-time $20 credit on an OpenRouter.ai account at openrouter.ai. This is required to set up the agent system and configure advanced features. The $20 credit covers the initial agent build and personalisation step. After that, the agent runs primarily on the device itself.

OpenRouter gives you access to leading open-source models (DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, GLM, Grok, and more) behind one pay-as-you-go gateway.

Requirement 3 (Optional but Recommended)

Local AI Model for Ongoing Tasks

Once set up, the agent runs mostly locally: no ongoing API bills for everyday use. For the best experience, install a small open-source model (we recommend LFM2-700M or similar) directly on the device. It's free, runs offline, and keeps everyday conversations private.

Keep your $20 OpenRouter.ai credit topped up as you go for advanced tasks (deep personalisation, weekly curriculum reviews, parent reports). Most families find $20 covers the first few months; ongoing costs depend on how heavy the usage is.

Requirement 4

Telegram or WhatsApp

The Morning Minute audio briefing and daily check-ins are delivered through Telegram or WhatsApp. Your teen needs a registered account on one of these services on their phone. Both are free and available on any smartphone.

The agent sends messages, not the other way around: no bots, no spam, no data collection. Just a good morning and a plan for the day.

The software itself is free forever. The agent lives on your device. The cost is for the gateway access during setup and the occasional advanced query, not for everyday use.

Coming September

Awesome Agent Upgrade

New training module for advanced agent building. Your teen learns to create custom agent skills, connect external tools, deploy local AI models, and build collaborative multi-agent workflows. For graduates who want to go further.

Part 6 · Questions

Things parents ask.

Does my teen need to know how to code?
No. Hermes is a natural-language agent platform: your teen configures it by talking to it and writing plain-English instructions. We teach everything step by step in the live sessions. If they can use a chat app, they can build an agent.
What equipment and accounts do we need?
See the full breakdown in the What You'll Need section above. Short version: a personal laptop (not school-issued) with 8 GB RAM, a one-time $20 OpenRouter.ai account credit for setup, optionally a local AI model, and a Telegram or WhatsApp account on a phone for the Morning Minute delivery. The software itself is free.
Is my teen's data safe?
Yes. Everything runs on your home computer. No data is sent to the cloud. No accounts to create with third parties. The agent's memory, plans, and morning briefings all live on your device. You can delete everything at any time.
What if we miss a session?
No problem. The training modules are on-demand, so your teen can work through them any time. The weekly live Q&A is recorded and made available to enrolled teens. Miss a Tuesday? Catch the recording. The programme is designed so you never fall behind: every module and recording is accessible for as long as you need.
What age is this for?
This guide is written for 13-23 year olds. The content is the eight essentials from the onetoeight programme: silence, body, scripture, nature, digital self-defence, life skills, community, and tested character. The agent build is age-appropriate and doesn't require any prior technical knowledge.
Is this a religious programme?
No. The programme is fully secular. The eight essentials are practical foundations (silence, body, community, nature, digital self-defence, life skills, knowledge, and tested convictions) that benefit any young person regardless of their background. Your teen tailors the agent to incorporate their own beliefs and values. The agent is theirs to shape. No worldview is pushed, and there's no pressure to think one way or another.
Can siblings join?
Yes: one enrolment covers one teen, but siblings can sit in on the webcast and build their own agents on the same computer. Each agent runs independently with its own memory and personality.
What happens after the programme?
The agent is yours forever. The software is free. Your teen keeps the three daily rituals running and can extend the agent on their own: for homework, projects, research, anything. The weekly Q&A remains available for as long as you want to keep attending.
